All about strobing

Contouring is such a beautiful thing when done correctly, from slimmer faces to chiselled cheekbones, this takes a lot of skill and patience and not everyone has that kind of time. Here's where strobing comes in and saves the day, it's faster and much easier.

Strobing is the makeup technique taking the world by storm (it has been around just not by that name). This is when you use light to define your features on all the high points of your face. This method makes you look airbrushed and brings out that inner disco ball. In short it's the reverse of contouring.

Here's to no more standing at makeup counters trying to figure out contour shades because now all you need is that one product to change your life - a good highlighter!

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is my go to when i want that inner glow. It's available at all Mecca stores and retails for $76.

Winter blushes I can't live without

I know not everyone loves winter, but oddly enough I do, it's my favourite season.

A good blush can be your new best friend when winter takes that glow from your skin, making it look drained.

The options are endless whether it's in the form of powder or cream. Even a light application can bring so much life to your face giving you that healthy flush.

Mac Mocha - Mac's description on their website is absolutely correct, it is a plum-pink matte blush. This is definitely one that you would look past at the counter but upon trying a swatch you'll find yourself purchasing it. It's soft, highly pigmented and blends like a dream. This colour suits all skin tones and gives just the right amount of flush to the cheeks. Lasts up to 6 hours on me. Retails for $41.

Mac Melba - This is Mac's most popular blush. It's a soft coral-peach matte blush that is suited to all skin tones, beautifully soft and highly pigmented, a little goes a long way. The matte finish makes it a versatile blush for people with oily skin as it doesn't enhance those dreaded pores. Gives the right amount of flush without looking chalky/ashy on the skin. This blush can be worn all year round. Lasts up to 6 hours on me. Retails for $41.

Nars Orgasm - The most sought after universal blush. This is a peachy-pink blush with subtle golden shimmer. The colour payoff is great and the shimmer leaves more of a golden sheen on the cheeks when blended, which i absolutely love. Lasts for up to 8 hours on me. Even though it retails for $42, I would repurchase as it's my holy grail.

Dressing for a lunch date

You don't always have to pay big bucks to look good when out to a lunch date. Denim is the most versatile piece of clothing you can own. Gone are the days when a pair of jeans was classified as too casual...

A pair of denim jeans is the easiest piece of clothing that can give you a super chic day look, just pair it with a crisp shirt, blazer and either a pair of heels or flats and you're good to go.

Making a colourful statement this winter

Here in Australia we are smack in the middle of winter, all our black and grey wardrobe staples are out. With the weather being so cold, you don't need an excuse to layer up :)

But this year it's been a little different, I've seen more colour than usual. Women are experimenting a little more with colour. It's been all about those oversized coats and knits, be it those sexy trench coats or sleeveless cropped knits. Sometimes I wish winter would last a little longer :(

Wearing colour during winter can be a little scary but sticking to pastel hues and neutral tones do brighten up a dull and cold day.

You can layer practically anything under a coat, pair it with leather, denim, leggings, short skirts, midi dresses, that cowl neck jumper from last season, the options are endless. Experiment with heels, boots, booties, flats, the combinations are endless. It's so Olivia Pope inspired :)

With a huge range of styles and colours available at amazingly affordable prices, one can't put a foot wrong. Right now sales are happening right throughout Australia, so I'm sure you'll find a good piece for under $200.
Check out websites like www.forevernew.com.au or www.whitefoxboutique.com for some fantastic bargains.

Pantone named "Marsala" as colour of 2015. It's a beautiful plum/wine tone.

Let's talk about lipsticks

Who doesn't love a good lipstick?? And why do they have to cost so much???

Be it high end brands like MAC, Nars, Chanel, Tom Ford or even the drugstore ones like Loreal, Revlon, Rimmel. I'm a sucker for a good lipstick... i fall for them and fall hard.

I've been a lover of MAC for years, the way they glide on to the lips, the pigmentation and the scent of each bullet (heavenly). Here in Australia they cost around $36, so i've started looking for dupes and cheaper ones that are just as good if not better, and lo and behold I've now set my eyes (and lips) on the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks (why did i not find them sooner??).

These are the best and the colours are to die for... these lipsticks are intensely pigmented, has the lasting of a stain. There's no feeling of stickiness that other glosses leave on the lips. Though they do dry out on the lips so priming your lips with a balm is always a good idea! I am completely in love with this product and have nothing negative to say (surprised myself here as i always find at least one fault).

These gorgeous lipsticks cost $28 and are available at Mecca.

Above are the two i currently own (from L-R) Melted Chihuahua and Melted Jelly Donut.

Let me know your thoughts on these lippies in the comment section.
